Changeover

It's been a year since I blogged...urrghhh...everytime I try to rejuvenate my blogging it just keeps going down the train. I again have just now taken a vow to keep updating this every now and then.

Lot of things have flown by since I last blogged. The most significant being that I have changed the place where I work. I shifted from Wipro Technologies - Bangalore to Deloitte Consulting India Pvt Limited. This is my 2nd change in the last 10 years. Some things have changed for good and some not for that good at the moment.
Changes - I have taken up the designation of "SEnior Consultant" that I came out from in 2006. I started of with Capgemini Consulting India Pvt Limited and now ended up with Deloitte Consulting India Pvt Limited, the same name except that Capgemini is replaced with Deloitte. What I noticed about this change was that I am not the only one who moved out of Capgemini and joined Deloitte, there 100;s of such people and maybe vice-a-versa is also true.

Wipro is still undergoing a transition post the US led global recession. It tried this by going through a cost optimisation process and unfortunately has not been able to come out of that mode and hence I feel it is still struggling. IT is not the only one in this boat, but has been the slowest when compared to all it's competitors.
Amazingly Cognizant is now the 4th largest player in the market. Now we discuss India's top 4 by revenue instead of the earlier 3 days. Cognizant has bet big on some industry sectors and concentrated on certified consultants rather than the rest 3. Kudos to Cognizant on this line. For me on an individual note the change was purely on the Value a job offered to me. VALUE as we all know is Benefits/Cost. Benefits include working effort, monetary effort, comfort factors and the cost would include the growth path in a traditional manner, choice of assignment and others. I primarily looked at the Benefits column and not at the cost side.
As of now I feel there is more VALUE than the previous job.

The other changes have been that my daughter has grow up and now has a new school - Sri Chaitanya Techno School. My daughter is changing dramatically in terms of her growth as an individual. The positives cannot be attributed to any one particular reason - school, syllabus, age, attention by parents and maybe just the genes from her Father (;-) .

Hope to blog more in the coming days.

Argentina - Bienvenido

The Land of the metal Argentum...

Arrived in the beautiful city of Buenos Aires. It is a city rich in European architecture. I have not heard so much of praises for the architects in all of my life as I have done in the last couple of weeks.

Argentina is a land of
Football - It is the land of Mario Kempes, Diego Maradonna, Batistuta, Messi. It has a great rivalry with neighbours Brazil on that subject. Boca Juniors (CABJ) and the River Plate are the arch rivals.
"Mate" - It is a drink just similar to green tea, but very bitter in taste. It is typically offered in small hollow cups made up of Calabash and a typical leather cover. Nowadays it is made from metal, porcelain, bamboo, wood, plastic...
Leche - In plain English it is milk. Argentina has
Dulce de Leche (Caramalised milk) - It is used as as spread, in ice creams, cookies. Alfajores is a speciality.
Beef - Carne. Almost 99% people eat and love beef. This is part of the Argentians staple food. God Save vegetarians (Vegetariano's) in this country. There is a huge dearth of Verdura (Vegetables).
Leather - Cattle is not spared even after death. People utilize it almost 100%.
Wine - Produces a lot of wine and people do like the wine. Typically the red wine is more popular, but White wine (Blanco) is also widely consumed.
Spanish - An amazing land of Spanish speaking people. English is hardly heard from the local people. From an Indians viewpoint, it is easier to have Hindi in Chennai than English in Argentina.

Went on a trip of Teatro Colon, Boca Juniors Club (CABJ), Port Madero, Casa Rosada (The Pink House - President's office), Tigre, Obelisk.....

Subway is okay, buses are good, but the trains are not good at all.

Finally a Revival

Ah....

A Post after 4 long years......Time has gone by...the hairs have fallen, am married, have a kid and am bloody back again in the same place and same website....

Am on a short stint in UK right now, nothing else to do apart from some work, phone calls to family (lemme try remembering my friends) and pointless browsing....but have started to turn and look back at my life ??? Life well spent or wasted without exploring or neither here or there - still searching....probably will keep exploring till the end (should have written every now and then)...

All the like minded people will agree that if you have no other thing in life to do, you end up making couple of drinks. Every time you have a couple of drinks and one ends up asking all the basic philosophic questions of - who am I ? Why was I born ? what am i doing here ? what should I do next ? Am I doing good ? Am I in the right place ?..... But there is no simple answer you see and then just dose off. I guess one can imagine what stage I am in currently - no prizes for guessing the right answer - about to dose off and in the midst of philosophical thoughts (no point guessing what I was doing before this...hahahaha)...

This is blog is just for revival...Hopefully more to follow...

Bye for now.
